About Me
Welcome to Redwood Counseling & Wellness. I’m Taylor, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist based in Texas. My passion is helping parents and individuals understand their unique wiring—or their child’s wiring—so they can make informed decisions that lead to greater peace and fulfillment.
My primary focus is on play therapy. Play is a child’s natural language, and through this powerful therapeutic approach, I help children process their feelings, develop emotional resilience, and navigate life’s challenges in a safe, supportive environment. I also enjoy educating parents about their child's behaviors and how to create accommodations that support their unique needs.
In addition to play therapy, I have lived experience as a neurodivergent person, which allows me to provide deeply neurodiversity-affirming care. Whether you’re a parent seeking to understand your child’s autism or ADHD diagnosis, an individual exploring life as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), or an adult working to make sense of past childhood experiences, I’m here to guide you with compassion, knowledge, and lived experience.
My Clinical Approach
While every client's journey is unique, my work is primarily grounded in Synergetic Play Therapy, a relationship-based model rooted in neuroscience, attachment, and nervous system regulation. Although it was developed as a play therapy model for children, its principles shape the way I work with clients of all ages. Whether we're using play, conversation, or experiential techniques, my focus is on helping my clients better understand themselves, build awareness of their nervous systems, and create lasting change through authentic connection.
Rather than relying on a single therapeutic approach, I thoughtfully integrate evidence-informed models based on each client's unique strengths, needs, and goals. My work is also informed by AutPlay Therapy, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and mindfulness-based practices. This allows me to tailor therapy to the individual sitting across from me rather than expecting every person to fit the same model.
As my practice has grown, I've continued to pursue advanced training in the areas I'm most passionate about. In addition to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), I've completed advanced training in neurodiversity-affirming Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) for OCD. This specialized approach has expanded my ability to support children, teens, and adults experiencing OCD while honoring the unique ways neurodivergent individuals experience intrusive thoughts, uncertainty, and anxiety.
Although I no longer teach yoga, completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection. Today, I continue to incorporate mindfulness, body awareness, and nervous system regulation into my work whenever they support a client's goals.
Beyond individual therapy, I enjoy supporting parents, clinicians, schools, and organizations through consultation, workshops, and educational speaking opportunities. I believe that increasing understanding within families and communities creates better outcomes not only for the individuals I work with, but for the people who support them as well.
Who I Love Working With
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is that no two people are exactly alike. While I welcome clients from many different backgrounds, I find myself especially drawn to working with individuals and families who value curiosity, authenticity, and a desire to better understand themselves or the people they love.
My practice is often a great fit for:
Parents who want to better understand their child's unique wiring and build stronger, more connected relationships rooted in compassion rather than compliance.
Neurodivergent children and teens, including autistic, ADHD, gifted, highly sensitive, and PDA-profile children, who benefit from a strengths-based, relationship-centered approach that honors who they are.
Neurodivergent adults exploring autism, ADHD, giftedness, high sensitivity, identity, burnout, or life transitions through a neurodiversity-affirming lens.
Children, teens, and adults experiencing OCD who are looking for an evidence-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach that goes beyond reassurance and symptom management to better understand the nature of OCD.
Individuals seeking deeper self-understanding, greater emotional awareness, and healthier relationships with themselves and the people around them.
Above all, I love working with people who are ready to approach themselves with curiosity instead of judgment. My goal isn't to change who you are—it's to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and build a life that feels more authentic and aligned with your values.
A Little More About Me
Outside of the therapy room, you'll usually find me spending time with family and friends, spoiling my two cats, experimenting with a new baking recipe, or searching for my next favorite local restaurant. I'm an avid reader, love discovering new music to sing or play, and tend to collect hobbies—especially when something new captures my curiosity.
One of the reasons I love being a therapist is that I'm endlessly fascinated by how people think, learn, and experience the world. That same curiosity shows up outside of work, too. Whether I'm taking a training, diving into a new book, or exploring a new hobby, I'm almost always learning something.
I believe that staying curious helps me be both a better therapist and a more connected human, and I'm grateful to do work that allows me to bring those two parts of myself together every day.
